Firsts is an app that suggests one small new thing to try each day and keeps a record of the firsts you log. It is made by Verde House, a studio of Northwest Ag Technologies, L.L.C. ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work and to improve. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

What we collect

DataWhy
Account ID: a random identifier created the first time you open the appTo store and back up your firsts
Email address or Sign in with Apple ID, only if you choose to back up your account. With Apple, we also keep a sign-in token from Apple on our server. To let you sign in and restore your firsts on a new device. The Apple token is used only to cancel your Sign in with Apple when you delete your account.
Your firsts: the text you write, category, date, and any photo you attachThis is the core of the app: saving and showing your history. If you log the day's shared first, it adds one to the public count of how many people did it (a number only, never who).
Age range you select during setupTo tailor suggestions
Budget you select (free only, a little, or anything)To suggest firsts that fit what you want to spend
Home state, only if you pick one (you choose it from a list; the app never reads your location). A city you pick with it stays on your phone and is never uploadedTo show that state's and city's lists of firsts
Lists you make or save: the name and itemsTo back up your lists with your firsts
Plans: which first you saved for later and the day and time you pickedTo back up your plans with your firsts and remind you (the reminders themselves are set on your phone)
Plan invites (only if you send one): the first, its day and time, and the optional note and name you add, and a picture of the invite card for the link preview. Friends who open the link add a first name and Going or Can't make it.To show the invite (and its preview in Messages and other apps) and who's going to the people you sent the link to, and to list answers in Activity. Anyone with the link can see it; removing the plan deletes the invite, its picture and every answer.
Friends (only if you set it up): a name, a username and a color you pick, an optional profile photo, who you're friends with and your pending requests, cheers and challenges you send, and anyone you block or reportTo let friends find you, show your firsts to the friends you accept, and keep Friends safe. See "Friends" below.
Notification token and choices (only if you allow notifications): your phone's push token, your Settings → Notifications choices, your time zone and reminder timeTo send the notifications you chose (friend requests, invites and answers, cheers, lists, challenges, group invites and, if you turn it on, friends' new firsts or one daily summary). Reminders for your daily first and plans are scheduled on your phone.
Groups (only if you start or join one): the group's name and color, who's in it, its shared lists, challenges and plans, and which of your firsts you share to itTo run the group for its members. See "Groups" below.
Lists you publish to the community (only if you choose to): the name and items, shown to other Firsts users without your name. Reports and saves on community lists are counted. To let others find and save your list, and to keep the community safe
"Never have I ever" answers (which cards you marked "Been there" or "Not yet", during setup and in the daily set) and any note you add to oneTo tailor suggestions and show your answer history
Subscription status, checked on your phone with Apple (it isn't sent to us)To unlock Pro features you paid for
Usage data: which screens and features you use, and app crashesTo understand what works and fix problems

We do not collect your location (GPS or otherwise), contacts, or payment card details. Apple processes all payments; we never see your card.

Weather theme

The Weather theme (Pro) changes with the weather in a city you pick from a list. Your pick stays on your phone; we don't store it. To get the weather, the app sends that city's map position (not yours) about once an hour directly to the U.S. National Weather Service at weather.gov, a free public service. The app never reads your phone's location.

Photos

Photos are optional. If you add one, it is stored privately and is visible only to you, unless you choose to share it yourself (for example, by posting a share card to another app) or you use Friends (below), where the friends you accept can see it unless you turn that off. An optional Friends profile photo is visible only to your friends and people you have a pending friend request with. Photos are never public. When you share outside Firsts, that app's privacy policy applies to what you post there.

If you tap Save to Photos, Firsts asks permission only to add the share card image to your photo library. It does not read your library to do this. If you tap Challenge a friend, the link you send contains the text of that first so your friend can see it; it isn't stored by us. Sharing a list works the same way: the link carries the list's name and items, and we don't store the link.

Friends

Friends is optional. If you set it up, you pick a name, a username and a color, and can add a profile photo. People can find you by searching your name or username, or with your friend link, QR code or friend code. Turn off “Find me in search” in Settings → Friends & privacy and only your link, QR code or friend code work. Search shows only your name and username; you become friends only when one of you sends a request and the other accepts. Firsts never reads your contacts.

Your friends (and no one else) can see how many firsts you've logged and, unless you turn these off, what you tried and your photos. You can turn off sharing what you tried or your photos in Settings → Friends & privacy, and hide any single first with "Friends can see this". Friends can cheer a first, send you a plan invite or a list, and see your answers to their invites.

You can remove a friend, block someone (they aren't told, can't find or add you, and lose access to your firsts), or report a person or a first; we review reports at software@nwagtech.com, and a first's photo is hidden after three reports. "Leave Friends" in Settings deletes your friend profile, friendships and friend activity; deleting your account deletes all of it.

Groups

Groups are optional and free. A group is private to its members: you join with a group link or code, or from an invite a friend sends you in the app. Members (and no one else) see each other's name, username, profile photo and counts of firsts, the group's shared lists and who has done which item, its challenges and plans, and the firsts you share to the group: ones you log from a group list or choose to share to it, with their photo unless you turn off sharing photos. Firsts you don't share to the group stay between you and your friends. Block works in groups too: people you block don't see you there and you don't see them.

You can leave a group anytime; the group's owner can remove members, make a new link (old links stop working) or delete the group. Leaving keeps your firsts. Leaving Friends or deleting your account removes you from every group.

This website

tryfirsts.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. Like any website, our hosting providers (Expo and Cloudflare) receive the technical details your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. Invite and friend pages load only what that link was made to share from our database (Supabase), and an answer you give on an invite page is stored as described above.

Shared counts

The app may show how many people did today's suggestion (for example, "1,200 people doing this today"). That number is a total only. It never reveals who did it or what they wrote.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the app. They process data only on our behalf and under their own security and privacy commitments:

What we don't do

How long we keep data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your firsts, photos, and account information from our systems within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something (such as records of transactions).

If you never back up your account and you delete the app, your firsts may be lost, because we can't link an unbacked-up account back to you.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights, such as the right to access, correct, or delete your information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us and we will respond within the time the law requires.

Age requirement

Firsts is intended for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted so that only your account can read your firsts and photos. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also let you know in the app.
